Carver School of the Arts- Felicia Coleman

My students at Carver School of the Arts really got into this project. Students here can certainly relate to the Embracing Differences’ mission to use art as the medium by which our city will be encouraged to consider drawing the line against prejudice, as they have chosen to attend a school which aims to support and encourage their own artistic development. It was easy for Carver students to embrace this project’s theme and to envision ways they can use their craft to spark community conversations. Below are some photos from my art classes and some pieces the students’ created. We look forward to the exhibit at Oglethorpe Museum.

Student  La Disha Newton shares, ” This world is filled with so many people  wearing many different hats and ethnicities. At some point we all have to unite.” I think you’ll agree these pieces of art reflect that message.
